Living on Campus is More Than a Place to Sleep

At USF, we believe that living on campus is more than just having a place to sleep—it’s a learning experience in itself! That’s why we take a curricular approach to residential life, setting clear goals and using data to measure success. If something works, we build on it. If not, we adjust and improve. Simple, right? At USF Sarasota-Manatee, this approach comes to life in three key areas- community building, personal development, and academic support.

Community Building

College is a time of new connections, and we’re here to help make them happen! Through shared experiences, social events, and unique opportunities, we create an environment where residents can meet new people, try new things, and build lifelong friendships. Our goal? That every resident feels a true sense of belonging, makes amazing memories, and—most importantly—has fun!

Personal Development

Beyond academics, we’re committed to helping students grow on a personal level. Living on campus is an opportunity to develop essential life skills—like resilience, teamwork, and adaptability—that will serve students long after they graduate. We encourage self-discovery and provide support so residents can confidently navigate challenges and celebrate their progress.

Academic Support

Let’s not forget the main reason students choose to live on campus—to succeed academically! In Atala Hall, we foster an environment that supports learning inside and outside the classroom. From study strategies and academic workshops to connecting students with key campus resources, we help residents stay on track and reach their goals. After all, the ultimate win is seeing our students walk across that graduation stage as proud USF alumni!

By combining community, personal growth, and academic support, we make the residential experience at USF Sarasota-Manatee one that shapes students for success—both now and in the future!
