Digital Learning on the Sarasota-Manatee Campus is thrilled to offer live, hands-on workshops again in person and on campus. We will have workshops every semester. Although most will be in person, a few will be on Teams.

Video Best Practices

10-11 am Sept. 19, 2024, VKC122

Learn to maximize the quality of your video and audio recordings and get the best out of your equipment. Includes best practices, lighting, backgrounds, equipment, etc.

NOTE: Registration is limited to 5 participants due to limited space in the location.

Accessibility in Word

9-10 am Oct. 23, 2024, Room B235

Learn the basics of creating accessible documents in Word as we demonstrate by making a syllabus accessible. 

Accessibility in Canvas

2-3 pm Nov. 5, 2024, Room B235

In this workshop, you'll learn how to use the Accessibility Checker in Canvas to create an inclusive learning environment. We will cover essential accessibility practices including hierarchical heading structures, alt text for images, and proper color contrast. With before-and-after examples, you'll see first-hand how easy it is to implement these changes and improve the accessibility of your course materials. By the end of this workshop, you'll have the confidence and skills to make your Canvas content welcoming and usable for your students.

Leveraging the Gradebook Tools

Unlock the full potential of the Canvas Gradebook to streamline grading and enhance student feedback. In this workshop, you'll learn to use the Gradebook messaging feature for targeted communication, configure Gradebook settings to match your grading policies, and employ rubrics in diverse ways for clear and consistent assessments. Gain practical skills to manage your Canvas Gradebook efficiently, improve communication with students, and use rubrics to enhance the transparency and quality of your grading process.
