Dr. Denise Davis-Cotton, program director for the PAInT Center based at USF Sarasota-Manatee, will participate in a community forum focused on “The State of the Arts” on Monday, Feb. 11, at 5:30 p.m.
The Hot Topics Forum panel discussion will be held at Holley Hall, 709 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, and is hosted by the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. Other panelists include Herald-Tribune Arts Editor Jay Handelman, Sarasota Orchestra President and CEO Joseph McKenna, Florida Studio Theater Managing Director Rebecca Hopkins and Urbanite Theatre Cofounder and Co-Artistic Director Brendan Ragan.
The forum is designed to stimulate discussion centered around the benefits of a thriving arts community with a component underscoring the vital role public- and private-sector funding plays in supporting such programs. The event is open to the public.
“The arts provide a conduit for cultural relevant instructional practices for sustainable learning,” Davis-Cotton said. “The PAInT Center extends the classroom learning environment into diverse communities by offering high-quality collaborative arts-integrated programs. I am honored to provide an opportunity to advance USFSM’s commitment to the arts by participating in this forum.”
