Dr. Eric Hodges is an Assistant Professor in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences with a specialization in Political Science. His research focuses on improving the reintegration process for military veterans. He became interested in this topic during his transition from the U.S. Marine Corps to civilian life. In 2014, he delivered a TED talk titled “The Moral Injury of War” that explored how community involvement can help heal the wounds of war among veterans. Dr. Hodges has disseminated his research to both academic and non-academic audiences, including TED talks, local and national media outlets, government organizations, blogs, podcasts, civic organizations, and academic journals.
At USF Sarasota Manatee, he serves as the coordinator of the ISS program and teaches courses about military veterans, American politics, political theory, the honors seminar, and ISS core courses. Before graduate school, Eric served as an adventure travel guide in places like Norway, France and Vermont. In his spare time, he continues to pursue outdoor recreation with his wife, Jessica, and their two daughters, Adelaide and Savannah.
